Sibutramine (hydrochloride) (Item No. 14476) is an analytical reference standard categorized as a phenylethylamine. It inhibits reuptake of serotonin (Item No. 14332) and norepinephrine (Item No. 16673) via the respective transporters.{34345} Sibutramine can be detected in plasma and urine.{34344,34343} Formulations containing sibutramine were previously used as anorexiants for obesity but its use was terminated due to adverse cardiovascular events.{34345} Sibutramine is regulated as a Schedule IV compound in the United States.
