Sauvagine is a neuropeptide hormone that has been found in frog (P. sauvagei) skin and member of the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) family, which includes mammalian CRF (Item No. 24407), urocortin (Item No. 24745), urocortin II (Item No. 24746), urocortin III (Item Nos. 24749 | 24750), and piscine urotensin 1.{38848,60831} In vivo, sauvagine (0.5 µg/kg, s.c.) reduces systemic blood pressure in normotensive rats.{60831} It inhibits anterior pituitary release of prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and growth hormone in rats. Sauvagine also increases plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) levels in rats.{60832}
