Immunoglobulins

Immunoglobulins, or antibodies, have a major role in the adaptative immune answer.

Immunoglobulins (Ig) are glycoproteins with a Y form. They are characterized by their ability to bind specifically to an antigen through their antigen binding site.

There are different families of immunoglobulins, known as isotypes, which have their own localisations, biological features and antigen binding properties. In mammals, we distinguish: IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, IgM.
