Prostaglandin F1?-d9 (PGF1?.-d9) contains nine deuterium atoms at the 17, 17′, 18, 18′, 19, 19′, 20, 20, and 20 positions. It is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of PGF1? by GC- or LC-mass spectrometry. PGF1? is the putative metabolite of dihomo-?-linolenic acid (DGLA) via the cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway. Both PGF1? and PGF2? have been shown to act as priming pheromones for male Atlantic salmon with a threshold concentration of 10-11 M.{3467} PGF1? binds to the ovine corpus luteum FP receptor at only 8% of the relative potency of PGF2?.{2058} It is only half as active as PGF2? in inducing human respiratory smooth muscle contractions in vitro.{2218}
