Homovanillic acid sulfate is a phenol found in olive oil and a dopamine metabolite.{37432,37433,37434} It is a component of low-density lipoprotein in humans that consume olive oil.{37432} Homovanillic acid sulfate levels are increased in response to acute renal injury in humans and rats, and it has been used as a biomarker for early detection of kidney disease in pediatric nephrology.{37433,37434}
