Histone H3 is a nuclear protein and a component of the nucleosome core, a basic unit of chromatin, that is essential for organizing genomic DNA in eukaryotic nuclei.{57056} It is a globular protein that contains an unstructured N-terminal tail that extends outside of the nucleosome core and is subject to various post-translational modifications (PTMs), including methylation, phosphorylation, acetylation, citrullination, and crotonylation.{57056,53978,59500} Crotonylation of histone H3 at lysine 9 (H3K9Cr) is regulated by histone acetyltransferases (HATs) and histone deacetylases (HDACs).{59501} H3K9Cr binds the YEATS domain of human AF9 and yeast Taf14 and is associated with transcriptional activation.{59501,59502} H3K9Cr levels are reduced by DNA damage in U2OS cancer cells.{59503} Cayman’s H3K9Cr Monoclonal Antibody can be used for dot blot, multiplex-based assay, and Western blot (WB) applications.
