The human-Embryonic ectoderm development (EED) protein is a WD40 repeat-containing protein that forms part of the Polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2).{18741,18742} The PRC2 core complex contains the catalytic subunit EZH2 (Enhancer of zeste 2), SUZ12 (Suppressor of zeste) and EED. The EED subunit does not contain methyltransferase activity. However, transcriptional repression by PRC2-mediated trimethylation of lysine 27 on Histone H3 (H3K27me3) has been shown to be dependent on EED binding to repressive histone marks.{18738}
