Desfuroylceftiofur is an active metabolite of the broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic ceftiofur (Item No. 27301).{58660} It is formed from ceftiofur by bovine kidney and liver esterases.{58661} Desfuroylceftiofur is active against 539 veterinary isolates of Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive cocci bacteria (MIC50s = 0.0078-1 and 0.015-4 µg/ml, respectively).
