Desethoxy quetiapine is an active metabolite of the atypical antipsychotic quetiapine (Item No. 14152).{57986} It is formed from quetiapine primarily by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP3A5 and binds to dopamine D2 receptors (IC50 = 1,330 nM).{57987,57986} Desethoxy quetiapine (20 and 40 mg/kg) reduces climbing induced by the dopamine receptor agonist apomorphine in mice. It also improves apomorphine-induced swimming deficits in mice.{57986}
