?-Cortolone is a metabolite of the glucocorticoid cortisol (hydrocortisone; Item No. 20739).{64470} It is formed from cortisol by 20?-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (20?-HSD) via a tetrahydrocortisone (THE; Item No. 34344) intermediate. Urinary levels of ?-cortolone are decreased in patients with severe anorexia nervosa and in postmenopausal women with endometrial adenocarcinoma compared to postmenopausal women without endometrial adenocarcinoma.{64471,64472}
