Chromogranin A is a glycoprotein and member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins that is encoded by CHGA in humans.{54729,54730,54731} It is expressed in endocrine, neuroendocrine, and immune cells and localized to secretory granules. Chromogranin A is composed of multiple peptide domains and is proteolytically cleaved by prohormone convertases, plasmin, kallikrein, and cathepsin L to generate various bioactive peptides, including pacreastatin, vasostatin-1, catestatin, and serpinin, which have roles in insulin sensitivity, vasodilation, inflammation, and cardiac contractility, respectively. Plasma levels of chromogranin A are increased in patients with hypertension, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and severe sepsis, as well as carcinoid, pancreatic islet, or thyroid tumors.{54731} Cayman’s Chromogranin A (N-Term) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody can be used for immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western blot (WB) applications.
