Thioflavin T

Thioflavin T

CAT N°: 32553
Price:

Thioflavin T is a fluorescent probe for amyloid fibrils.{54673} It displays excitation/emission maxima of 385/445 nm, respectively, and exhibits an increase in fluorescence intensity and a shift in excitation/emission maxima to 450/482 nm upon binding to amyloid fibrils.{54673,54675} The fluorescence intensity is also pH dependent, increasing in intensity as the pH increases.{54675} Thioflavin T binds to different types of amyloid fibrils with varying affinity, over two orders of magnitude, depending on type and binding mode.{54674} It has been used with fluorescence microscopy to visualize brain amyloid fibril plaques in a rat model of Alzheimer’s disease.{54676}
