Maresin 1-d5 is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of maresin 1 (Item No. 10878) by GC- or LC-MS. Maresin 1 is a member of the specialized pro-resolving mediator (SPM) family of bioactive lipids.{27956} It is produced from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; Item Nos. 90310 | 17950) in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Maresin 1 (100 nM) reduces TNF-?-induced increases in reactive oxygen species (ROS) in primary human vascular smooth muscle and endothelial cells.{28026} It decreases disease severity, neutrophil infiltration, and intestinal crypt damage in a mouse model of colitis induced by dextran sulfate (DSS; Item No. 23250) when administered at doses of 0.3 and 1 µg/animal.{28042} Maresin 1 (0.1, 1, and 10 ng/animal) inhibits increases in inflammatory exudate polymorphonuclear (PMN) neutrophil infiltration in a mouse model of peritonitis induced by zymosan A (Item No. 21175).{27956} It has been found in the synovial fluid of rheumatoid arthritis patients.{30501} Maresin 1-d5 MaxSpec® standard is a quantitative grade standard of maresin 1-d5 (Item No. 21823) that has been prepared specifically for mass spectrometry and related applications where quantitative reproducibility is required. The solution has been prepared gravimetrically and is supplied in a deactivated glass ampule sealed under argon. The concentration was verified by comparison to an independently prepared calibration standard. This maresin 1-d5 MaxSpec® standard is guaranteed to meet identity, purity, stability, and concentration specifications and is provided with a batch-specific certificate of analysis. Ongoing stability testing is performed to ensure the concentration remains accurate throughout the shelf life of the product. Note: The amount of solution added to the vial is in excess of the listed amount. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately measure volumes for preparation of calibration standards. Follow recommended storage and handling conditions to maintain product quality.
