OM173-?A is a quinone bacterial metabolite originally isolated from Streptomyces that has antimicrobial activity.{45188,45189} It inhibits the growth of the bacteria M. gallisepticum, M. pneumoniae, and S. aureus in vitro with MIC values ranging from 0.39 to 3.13 ?g/ml. OM173-?A also inhibits the growth of the plant pathogenic fungus P. oryzae (MIC = 3.12 ?g/ml) and several species of Trichophyton (MICs = 12.5-25 ?g/ml).{45188}
