Ganciclovir-d5 is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of ganciclovir (Item No. 13853) by GC- or LC-MS. Ganciclovir is a synthetic analog of 2’-deoxy-guanosine that inhibits the replication of human cytomegalovirus (CMV) with an IC50 value of 0.01 ?M.{22181,22180} It is effective against strains of CMV from human, monkey, mouse, and guinea pig.{22181,22180} Formulations containing ganciclovir have been used to treat or prevent CMV infections.{22178,22179}
