Flurazepam (Item No. 16190) is an analytical reference material that is categorized as a benzodiazepine. It acts as a partial agonist of the benzodiazepine site on GABAA receptors, potentiating the action of GABA with an EC50 value of 930 nM in neuronal chick spinal cord cultures.{30203} Through this signaling mechanism, flurazepam produces anxiolytic and sedative properties.{30202} Formulations containing flurazepam have been used in the treatment of insomnia but also carry a potential for misuse.{30202,30204} Flurazepam is regulated as a Schedule IV compound in the United States. This product is intended for research and forensic applications.
