6-Deoxypenciclovir is an inactive metabolite of the antiviral prodrug famciclovir (Item No. 23834).{39520,61949} It is formed from famciclovir via hydrolysis and is further metabolized via oxidation by aldehyde oxidase to the active metabolite penciclovir (Item No. 22918). 6-Deoxypenciclovir has been used in the synthesis of prodrug forms of penciclovir.{61950}
